The number of texts from politicians asking us for donations and more donations and even yet still more donations is mindbogglingly awful. Our Blue Paper on the topic, has a few suggestions for the DNC to – while not stop – at least send out fewer. We get it, they need money, but it’s gotten so egregious we’ve started ignoring them and doesn’t help any of us. If you agree with and have deleted more than your fill of text messages from Ken Martin, let’s return the onslaught and let them know what we think …

On that note, the following letter will be sent to Ken Martin, Chair of the Democratic National Committee, as well as the DNC general mailbox, on your behalf. All you have to do is fill out your name, email, and where you vote from.

    Dear DNC Team,

    As a committed voter who donates, participates, and believes in the Democratic party, I want to raise a concern shared by many in your base. Immediately after we donate our time, talent, or treasure, we are met with a nonstop stream of “urgent” text messages asking for more. A phenomenon so ubiquitous, it also happens the evening of a Democratic victory. Can we enjoy the moment, please?

    The constant deluge feels, at best overwhelming, and at worst, exploitative. Instead of strengthening engagement, it risks alienating the very people who consistently contribute to your coffers.

    The Blue Paper on this topic (https://socialjusticemedia.com/bp-texting), suggests a more respectful approach to donor communication by:
    • Reducing repetitive fundraising texts
    • Creating an option that limits solicitations for Recurring Donors
    • Sending more informational updates about impact, priorities, and progress instead of constant asks

    Supporters want to continue helping, but we also want to feel valued – our time respected and our donations appreciated.
